The William Jack Hernandez Sport Fish Hatchery is the largest indoor sport fish hatchery in North America. This 141,000 SF facility incorporates state-of-the-art fish rearing recirculation technologies to production goals while using approximately 5% of the fresh water volume and 5% of the energy required in a conventional hatchery.
The hatchery contains more than 100 fish rearing tanks. At capacity it is capable of producing more than six million fish each year. After cultivation these fish are released into waters throughout Southcentral Alaska. The sport fishing activities supported by the hatchery contributes more than $20M into local communities.
